President’s Welcome Note

As President of the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers for 2012, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you to this year's conference.

2012 has seen a continuation of the themes that have tested businesses since 2008. The sovereign risk issues haven't gone away, and despite Ireland's willingness and ability to keep the Troika happy, the danger from Southern Europe still threatens the ability of the global economy to move forward with aplomb. Further clarity (or confusion!) around the impact of regulatory change on the corporate is giving some insight as to the future challenges for our roles.

Last year's conference was a great success and we firmly believe those in attendance benefitted from being there and the hope is that this year's event will build on this. The aim (as ever) is to get you, the IACT members and conference attendees, to network, chat, and think about the issues at all levels in treasury today.

Addressing many of the key issues facing treasurers today, expert speakers will provide insights on areas including the changing credit world & Basel III implementations, investment policies, evolution in cash & liquidity management practices, de-mystifying supply chain financing, etc.

Throughout the day, industry experts will deliver their knowledge, expertise and opinions on current issues facing treasurers and we invite you to stay with us to the end of the day when a panel of Treasurers will review what has been presented and offer "their" opinions and "their" experience of these issues. We invite you all to join in this debate with opportunities in advance of, and during, this session to submit questions on conference topics and any other treasury related challenges.

Finally, we do hope you can join us at the end of the day at the conference drinks reception, and take advantage of the opportunity to network and chat to the exhibitors and your friends and peers.
